Volunteer Team Placements

Our Community Volunteer Circles program recruits and manages teams of student volunteers at social service agencies throughout Hamilton, at children's tutoring programs, working with adults living with disabilities, at homeless shelters, and with environmental projects. We currently manage weekly volunteers for:

Afterschool Program (Eva Rothwell Community Centre) - Multiple Groups
Tutoring and games for ages 8-13, clothing exchange program.

Conway (Conway Opportunity Homes, Inc)
Interact and assist with people living with developmental disabilities.

Cootes Cleanup (Stewards of Cootes Paradise)
Conduct clean ups to ensure the health and biodiversity of the Cootes Watershed while also researching the causes of creek contamination. Assist with advocacy by engaging with government, businesses, policy makers, and residents in the vicinity of the affected areas.

Dr. Davey Nutrition Program (Beasley Community Centre) - Multiple Groups
Prepare and distribute food for school-wide nutrition program. Volunteers work with grade 4-8 students to create menus and prepare healthy snacks.

Newcomer Youth Centre and Homework Help Club (YMCA) - Multiple Groups
Interact with recent immigrant youth, provide homework assistance, and organize fun and educational activities in the YMCA Youth Centre.

Inasmuch Women's Shelter (Mission Services) - Multiple Groups
Facilitate crafts, games, and movies for infants and children

Learning and Fun (Welcome Inn Community Centre) - Multiple Groups
Work with at risk kids in small groups and one-on-one using creative and fun tools to teach academics, and assist LAF coordinator with activities.

Pathways to Education (North Hamilton Community Health Centre) - Multiple Groups
Academic tutoring and role-modeling to Gr. 9 students in a group environment where learning (through homework, projects, and other avenues) is preserved and appreciated.

Wesley Centre Soup Kitchen (Wesley Urban Ministries)
Prepare and serve food to homeless people at a drop-in.

YOUth Create Afterschool Program (HARRRP) - Multiple Groups
Healthy snacks, homework help, and activities such as crafts, arts, physical activity, sports, and cooking for grades 6-8 youth.
