Deep Reflection and Growth

EndOfTerm
Above: an end of term event combining a downtown outing, community-building, games, and reflection activities about how we've learned and grown through our experiences.

I have always believed that the students who benefit most from a university education are those who are engaged and reflective, enabling the deep learning that is needed to translate theory into practice. Student Open Circles supports students to achieve this through community outreach opportunities, spiritual connectivity, and guided reflection.

– David Wilkinson, SOC Board member, former McMaster Provost and Dean of Engineering

I learned how to be appreciative of diversity - everyone has the capacity to grow, learn, and perform highly - they just may need tailored support and assistance to achieve this. I have seen how prominent poverty, homelessness, and mental health challenges are in Hamilton, and feel privileged to be able to lead a wonderful group of volunteers who are dedicated to making a positive and sustainable change in these communities.
