Volunteering Supports my Healing Journey

The LAF afterschool program is my favourite SOC volunteer group so far. It is the highlight of my weeks. It brought me back to my childhood, since I can relate to a lot of the youth. I grew up in a similarly disadvantaged area, Toronto Jane & Finch with a highly unstable home. LAF helps me reconnect with my inner child and supports my healing journey. I’m so glad to know that there are great resources like SOC and Welcome Inn available now compared to my childhood. LAF creates a wonderful space for youth, which some may not have at home. The memories created at LAF will be carried into many of their adulthoods.
